Celebrating strength, inside and out
This year’s theme invited guests to explore the boundless depth of their personal and professional power, inspiring everyone to rise together, uplift one another, and lead with authenticity. Attendees enjoyed vibrant networking and heartfelt moments that celebrated the collective spirit of women in the industry.

Upon arrival, the ladies were welcomed with refreshing drinks at the gin bar, sponsored by Emerald Africa, and received stylish goody bags. Ladies were also kept hydrated by National Salvage Brokers who sponsored all the water for the event. The atmosphere was beautifully captured by a professional photographer, courtesy of Garrun Group, while DJ Sasha Martinengo set the tone, thanks to Lombard Insurance, Genoa Underwriting Managers, and Leppard, also announcing a coveted R20 000 travel voucher, sponsored by Discovery.

Before formalities kicked off, guests were treated to a range of activations that added flair and fun to the afternoon. King Price Insurance brought the vibe with a lively 360 selfie booth, while Gage Car Hire showcased sleek vehicles in their car display activation, including Mercedes Benz South Africa showcasing their top of the range vehicle. Green Glasses added a meaningful touch through a recycling activity, aligning perfectly with sustainability values.

Attendees also enjoyed unwinding at the LoveSea activation, hosted by Fulcrum, and more by activation sponsor Firedart Engineering Underwriting Managers.

The formalities of the evening
The formalities of the day began with a welcome from the GWII President, Kyndra Robertson, and IIG President, Wilmine Prinsloo, joined by our MC, in welcoming guests and thanking all the sponsors for their sponsorship and support.

Tying into the event’s theme, guest speaker Zandile Ndhlovu, the ‘Black Mermaid’ and a passionate freediver and conservation storyteller, delivered an inspiring address on courage, storytelling, and self-discovery. Sharing her own journey to qualify as a freediver — a path that did not always go as planned — she spoke about confronting fears, embracing “firsts,” and the power of rewriting your internal narrative. Her message highlighted that when we tell our own stories, we can change not only ourselves, but our communities and even the world. She reminded the audience that it’s never too late to start, and that women are changing the trajectory of how things are done.

Gifts, treats, and celebration
After the keynote and messages of empowerment, the celebration continued with exciting giveaways. A host of fabulous prizes were handed out

Guests mingled and networked while sipping fine wines courtesy of MUA Insurance Acceptances and indulging in sweet delights at the dessert station sponsored by QSURE. To keep the energy high, Lloyd’s treated guests to coffee, ensuring everyone was kept warm on this cold winter day.

Giving back
In keeping with tradition, guests contributed to this year’s chosen charity, The Black Mermaid Foundation, a pioneering non-profit dedicated to transforming ocean conservation by fostering diversity, access and education, through generous donations. Together, we made a meaningful difference, thanks to the ladies’ generosity.

Thank you
GWII and IIG would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, partners, and every attendee who made Women’s Day 2025 an unforgettable celebration of connection, empowerment, and the Depth of Her Power. Together, we continue to create spaces where women can thrive, inspire, and lead boldly.
